Eco friendly travel toiletry bars!

Shampoo & conditioner

You can substitute your normal plastic containers with bars. Although, if you would prefer a bottle then there are sustainably made ones.

A 90g bar can last for about 60 – 80 washes. So if you wash your hair on average 3 times a week then a bar will likely last for a minimum of 5 months.

Body wash, shaving foam and hand cream

As for body wash, shaving foam and hand cream (pictured in first photo in the tin underneath the razor blades), they can last just as long as shampoo bars so again there are only positives. For those concerned about a bar being too dry for their skin, don’t worry. I have dry skin and have had no problems with a bar. You can always look for ones specifically for dry skin. There are endless varieties of bars out there now.

Eco friendly deodorant

My one so far has lasted 4 months and looks like it’s barely been used so this one in particular greatly outlasts my previous unnatural plastic deodorants. Like most sustainable travel toiletries, the deodorant I use is 100% natural so better for me.

Eco friendly toothpaste and toothbrush

I have not yet used sustainable toothpaste but this will be my next change! There are options out there so when you next run out, think green.

The toothbrush I use is an electric Oral B one which I have had for about 6 years. I will continue to use it until it stops working. I use sustainable heads which act just like less eco friendly ones. However, for travelling it is not always possible to charge up an electric tooth brush so when the charge runs out, you could either use a bamboo toothbrush or buy a new sustainable electric tooth brush that doesn’t need to be charged. Find some examples here.

Eco Friendly razor and blades

Try out a razor by Mutiny. My rose gold one is perfectly sized for travelling, light weight and the blades are super small. Both razor and blades work just as well as unsustainable versions, take up less space and most importantly, they are less harmful to the environment so a win win.

Eco friendly travel toiletry positives

Sustainable alternatives mean no more big and heavy bottles so …
  • Saves space
  • Saves weight
  • Don’t have to go in your liquids bag
  • And consist of more natural ingredients

So swap to these eco friendly travel toiletries no matter what length of time you are away for. There is no downside and many many positives!

Please – make the change!

Remember, the world will only remain here to be explored and as breath taking as it is now if we all work together to make changes. Around a million bottles are bought every minute world wide. If America alone made the swap to shampoo bars this would save at least around 330 million bottles! I was disgusted at Americas use of single plastic while over there, they need make a drastic improvement and fast! I know many of you will think ‘I can recycle plastic so why does it matter’. But what the packaging for toiletries is made of can be harmful to the environment.

Plastic pollution. Choose eco friendly alternatives.
Choose the eco friendly alternatives!

However, many people do not recycle so millions upon millions of plastic bottles end up in landfill. Or worse, washed up on a beach after causing harm to animals.

Imagine swimming in a pool full of broken plastic bottles that are big enough to trap you.
